What is this object?

In "Sleeping Beauty", the Three Good Fairies hide inside it (they turn themselves small) to make plans to protect Aurora. Personally, I think it is used to keep cutlery, but I'm not sure.

Okay, watched the scene.
Might be a container for family heirlooms. The cups and the spoon inside look very expensive, so maybe (really not sure here) they were only used on special occasions.
