Disney Princess Question

What is the reaction of the people around you when they know you loved Disney Princess?

"Disney Princess" was identical with little girls a lot. Most people think that Disney Princess is only suitable for little girls, between toddlers to elementary school childrens.

But I saw at Fanpop and some sites, there are many peoples older than elementary school childrens, who actually loves Disney Princess a lot. It means not only childrens who loves this franchise, but also teenagers and even adults!

My question: What is the reaction of the people around you when they know you loved Disney Princess? Does they're supported you, or insulted that you are look like a child? Because in many peoples' perspective, it's weird to teenagers and adults to love them.

And additional questions, because I saw some fans around here are not only females, but also males (thought they're minority). Does peoples insulted you and thought your interest is too feminine and you're considered to be less masculine?

What is the reaction of the people around you when they know you loved Disney Princess?

most people find it silly of me to indulge in "kiddie" stuff like DP. They don't see it as "adult-enough" content and often don't take me serious for my love of DP.
Especially adult men tell me, "its your nostalgia with DP and not actual love". I don't really care what people say, i know it is real and i love DP forever

The usual response is "Come again?" Quickly followed by "That's not for adults."

People are usually very rude about it. I get a lot of dirty looks from mothers of young children when I go to a store and buy DP merchandise (some have even told me that I'm stealing toys from their children by collecting them). And my aunts tell me it's "selfish" and "childish" for me to like the princesses and that I need to grow up and get "real" interests.

My family knows and they accept that I love Disney Princesses and everything else Disney. (Having a father that loves animation also helps!)
But I still keep it private from people outside of the family because I feared that they might mistake me for being weird. In the past, people told me that "Disney is for little children, you are a grown up now, no more cartoons" or something like that. My mom said if I say "I'm into animation" it will save me from negative comments. But when I said that to a former co-worker, she thought I mean anime and she began blabbing how her boyfriend likes some adult anime, and I was like, "That's not what I meant!" Overall, I keep my interest of DIsney a secret unless I know that person will not laugh AND knows what I'm talking about!
