Queer coding? Never heard of it. *checks google*

Psshhh. According to what I have just read, coding is the subtle implications of a characters sexual orientation without coming right out and saying "I'm GAY!" So, I'm not sure why you think having an outright gay villain would be "coding". What am I missing?

As far as being a gay villain, I think it's about time. Gay characters are almost always shown as weak or goofy or otherwise vulnerable. I think it would be nice to see a gay character in a dominant position instead of playing the victim or the misunderstood but accepted family friend.

My most favorite gay character of all time was Sam Adama from the Caprica mini series. He was a bad-ass.

I really don't care. I don't even care if they ever put one in at this point. I guess a gay best friend would be nice though because it might teach kids to be tolerant and accepting of others' differences. Don't think it's ever gonna be the main character though...

OMG Mr_Cubbins Sam Adama was an awesome character in that show and he was my favorite one! It would be interesting to see a gay villain and they would not even have to make a big deal out of it. Just make it seem natural that he or she has a same sex partner and that no one really cares. Why should the villain always be alone? He or she could have a love interest as well...just because you are evil does not mean you are unlovable.

Now you are just talking crazy sweetpea. Evil people don't feel love. If they did, they wouldn't be evil.

I don't have anything against homosexuality, quite the opposite actually, but I just don't think Disney is ready for it...

@ ergfts you can cross dress and not be gay (males cross dressing has been a comedy act in animated films for years)...and just because Wiggins was effeminate also does not make him gay.

I just don't think that homosexuality will fit in with the magic of Disney.

I don't have anything against homosexuality,but I kinda think Disney will not work on that. I mean, the won't show it in an apropriate way, they are not ready for it. So, maybe nothing or a homosexual best friend of a princess, because the other choises are rather dangerous for disney at this time.Especially gay/lesbian romance.

So, you're all for homosexuals helping create the magic of Disney just so long as their kind are kept in the closet?

It's not like your current favorite movies would just disappear. It's not like every new movie they create would incorporate an openly homosexual character. I understand that you are uncomfortable with the idea, you just need to understand that you might be homophobic. Being homophobic is just as bad as being racist.

If Disney can use it's influence to make it easier for society to accept and tolerate homosexuality as a natural part of life then I think it should. But ultimately, I don't think Disney will, because of their past track record dealing with their own homosexual employees.

@dee389

It's going to be all-right, it's safe now. You can come out of the closet.

not a villain, possibly later on but not if it's the first homosexual in a disney movie. gay people aren't really treated equally as it is so i don't think putting a gay person as a disney villain will do them any favours.

I think to start, they could put it in more subtly and gradually add it to their movies. When people are more adjusted to the idea and it's less controversial, then it could be a main storyline.
