maryksand picked Belle:
All of the princesses bring something new to the table and have real struggles to face and overcome, a character development to get throughout the movie in one way or another (sometimes including actual physical transformations like Ariel who fulfilled her long term dream of becomming a human and living on land after years of exploring the human world, sometimes risking her life to find certain items, or Mulan whose journey was more aimed at coming to terms with and learning to be able to accept herself the way she was, which included her first dressing up as a guy and then "transforming" back into a girl, proving that a woman doesn't have to pretend to be or behave like a man in order to be strong and to succeed), even Snow White, with her upsetting lack of personality contributed a lot to DP franchise since she was the first Disney princess, introducing the world to a dreamy, bubbly and optimistic type of a heroine, which was re-done many times in later movies and became a pretty common troupe. Belle on the other hand brings NOTHING new to the table since all of her goals and desires were already represented - and in a much more detailed and relatable way - through other princesses whose movies were released prior to BaTB, she gets absolutely no character development an faces no struggle, remaining the same from the beginning till the end and just letting things "happen" instead of actually going for what she wants on her own (and that despite not being oppressed or controlled by her parent figure like most of the princesses like Jasmine, Rapunzel or Ariel). Basically, she just fulfills her role in the movie that she was supposed to fulfill and Beast is the one to get an actual character development ( a pretty rushed but a decent one). DP franchise imo wouldn't lose much if she was excluded, but it's not like I would WANT that myself since I love BaTB as a movie and it simply wouldn't have existed without her, but to answer this particular question I definitely have to choose Belle.

I know it's unfair, but Mulan isn't royalty before or after marriage, and all the others are

^ same reasons as the above. she deserves a place in the lineup and i like her a lot, but if i had to choose one to remove it'd be her based on the fact that all of the others are real Princesses (Pocahontas can be considered one, arguably)

or Rapunzel since she's the newest addition.

Jessikaroo picked Belle:
maryksand basically summed up my opinion. Belle's pretty bland compared to the other girls, and she's doesn't really offer much besides being a brunette and a book worm.

Actually if you're all saying Mulan can't be included, then neither can Ariel and Pocahontas. Triton is a god, instead of a king- also he rules the sea. Not a country, city, state, province, yadayadayada.

Mongoose09 picked Mulan:
@hajirah4: I haven't seen Ariel's movie for a long time so I don't know if she's a Princess or not at the beginning (I know Triton is a God but I thought he was also a King in the movie) but even if she's not she still marries a Prince at the end, thus making her a Princess.

I somewhat agree with you on Pocahontas but I think she can arguably be considered 'royalty' (albeit not a Princess) more than Mulan can since she's the daughter of a chief. My choice would've been between Mulan, Rapunzel or Pocahontas anyway.

milky-way picked Mulan:
I'm glad that she is one, but if I had to remove one it would be her because she isn't a princess, and I can't think of a fair reason to remove any other princess (except Rapunzel because she's CGI, but I still think she fits the franchise more than Mulan).

Actually I basically agree with everything Mongoose09 said. And Ariel is definitely a princess, I'm pretty sure they refer to her father as King Triton in the movie.
