Disney Princess Does it bother you when the stories in DP movies are vastly different from their source material?

It depends on how the movie works with the source material. When I read the original story of "The Little Mermaid" I did get upset with how they brushed the Little Mermaid's desire for an eternal soul but nonetheless they created a good version that stands on itself pretty well. So, yeah.

I will admit, Pochahontas was much better before I learned about the real story XD

I like that they kept a few of the same elements of Rapunzel in Tangled, but hate overall how much they changed when they didn't need to. like, at the very least, explain WHY she has a weird name like Rapunzel. in the original story that is the name of the plant her pregnant mom craves, which is why her dad steals it from the witch and the witch ends up raising Rapunzel for it. it would have made total sense for Gothel to name her after the flower, so why couldn't they at least mention that? It just bothered me, among other things.

I love PATF but dislike how widely changed pretty much everything but her actually kissing a frog is. Tiana isn't even born a princess.

Depends on the end result...if it works, then I'm not bothered, not even when the movie misses the core of the story the same way TLM does.

It really depends on the movie and how they adapt the new things on the script. For example, Tangled was very different from the original story of Rapunzel but the plot, elements and changes they did made a realy great movie (also I think it´s a betterstory than the original) so it didn´t bothered me at all. I loved it.

However I think they could have done a better work with The Princess and the Frog. It´s not a bad movie and I find it good but it could have been improved.

No, why should I care? It is a movie for entertaiment not a documentary.
I am greek and I didn't not get upset of how much they changed Hercule's story. As long as it is a good version I support it. Sometime disney's versions are better than original ones....well, to be fair and square, most of the time.
