Hercules is much much older. Imagine, in Homer's Iliad (which was written in 800 B.C) the story was taking place in 1200 B.C. There, Hercules was already a legend amongst the Ancient Greeks! In fact, Achilles refers to Hercules as a great great distant ancestor of his!!! Estimating all that, Hercules probably lived around 1400 B.C. I don't know much about Ancient China but according to what I 've read, Mulan takes place during the times of the first emperor of China, around 300-200 B.C. (That's when the Huns attacked to China).
