The movies are definitely better than the ones from that Chicken-Little era. And they are making money in the theaters after a long period of box-office failure, just like with the Renaissance.

I am writing an overall theory analysis of the rumored Second Renaissance. It will involve when people think this era started, what makes this era different from the Post Renaissance and the Renaissance Era, are Disney back on top, Which people changed Disney for the better, are the characters more developed, and all of that. You can write as little or as much (more preferable for the article) as you want. Your opinions will be an important part of the article.

I personally believe it started after Bolt because every film that just came out has been amazing. They all have the Disney Feeling or the Walt Disney Feel to it. The Princess and the Frog was amazing but lame reasons didn't make a lot of money. Tangled really pulled it through and was also great. Wreak it Ralph and Frozen were also great. But sadly I feel like people are making this era based off of the money and not about how great the film.

Revival Era! It started from PATF and still continuing! You know like Oscar nominations, box office hits, musical, classic, and famous! Yipee! Disney really is stepping it up!

Definitely. Personally, I love PatF. Amazing characters, beautiful animation, and what not, but I still don't think it started the renaissance. It's nice, but it didn't seem groundbreaking. Tangled on the other hand completely changed the company. It made more money than any Disney movie before (except TLK), was well received by critics, and really changed the name brand of Disney. Tangled, Wreck-It-Ralph, and Frozen are definitely the Renaissance/Revival era for Disney. Winnie the Pooh is just kind of...there..I guess it's included, since it's in the middle, but it doesn't really qualify.

thanks, these are really going to help. So I am assuming no one sees Bolt as a contributor to it?

^Well I do kind of...I just haven't seen it in a long time...I think so it would also count because personally I think it was a good as The Little Mermaid but because we grew up with TLM and it's a fairy tale I believe people don't see it as a beginning of something.

I don't think so...it's alright, but it didn't accomplish enough to be crowned the "Stater of The Renaissance" neither did PatF, even though the movie is my third favorite DP movie (ahead of Tangled actually)

^ Agreed. But I really think Tangled was the biggest boom factor in starting the Renaissance.

I think we're in a Second Renaissance. For me, I think the characters are better developed. I haven't seen Wreck-it Ralph, but the one I have seen, I like the relationships between the characters. Where did the this SR start, probably with Tangled.

I think Wreck-it Ralph was fabulous! Even better than Tangled IMO, but not better than Frozen.

We're definitely in a Renaissance... but I don't like that it's in CGI. =/

I think Princess and the Frog started the Renaissance though. Did it do phenomenally at the box office? No, but it started the momentum of quality that got the ball rolling for later films.

Disney also learned from their marketing mistakes with PatF that made Tangled the success it became. They marketed PatF as a timeless classic, so people only noticed the flaws; a Disney Princess film, so boys and men ran for the hills, and a sincere fairy tale that post-Shrek audiences still weren't ready for. And it's hand-drawn. =/

As a result, Disney *completely* retooled the marketing for Rapunzel that got butts in seats: they gave it a gender-neutral title and made the ads focus on Flynn so as not to scare the boys away, and marketed it as a snarky, action-packed DreamWorks-esque adventure film so post-Shrek audiences would be interested. And it's CGI. >_<

I'm willing to bet money that if PatF had not come out first, Disney would not have marketed "Tangled" as they did, it would not have been the run-away success it became, and we would not have a CGI Renaissance as it is.

^ Yeah, I agree, although I don't mind the CGI too much. Wish it was handdrawn, but you get what you get.

Tangled was looked upon by most as the most successful Disney movie since The Lion King (sorry Tiana fans but let's be real here)

Wreck it Ralph and Frozen are continuing the success.
