Meh. I never really saw him as a disturbing villain.. prolly because when I watched it, it what the world is nowadays. -.-
Frollo, on the other hand, is basically doing the same thing. The reason he becomes disturbing because he freaking burned a city down to sleep with Esme.
I like Gaston because he is like that in a subtle way. The scene where he tries to kiss Belle is a brilliant scene because when a kid watches it, it's seen as just another silly scene. But watching it now, woah I don't think sexual assault should be taken so lightly. Do you imagine what he would do to Belle if she accepted his hand in marriage after he blackmailed her? It isn't in your face about it but it's pretty clear to me now and it disturbs me.
Kinda. I mean, when I think about it, I say "that guy is one of the creepiest Disney villains because he's so real!". Bu while watching the movie I don't spend the whole time thinking "He's so disturbing and creepy!".
He's a predator (both literal and sexual) that has his respective society's full consent and support to kill helpless animals, discriminate against harmless beasts, and force a young woman to marry him without her consent, knowing full well that "marriage" to him would reduce her to being, essentially, his house slave and sex slave, and broodmare to his children, all in one.
Yes but in a good way. He's such a realistic character, especially by the end you see his weaknesses. He is macho, clever, vain, spoiled, assertive, prejudiced against appearances.
He's definitely evil, but at the same time you can understand how he got the way he is. All the women in the town adore him, so he had no reason to question his vanity until Belle. Actually with both Gaston and the Beast, it is the fact that Belle challenges them that makes her so attractive to them.
Also, at the end, Gaston really believes that the Beast is a monster and he is defending Belle honorably by going after him. I love complex characters like this, it is so much more like real life.

That disturbs me a heck of a lot.
