I'm ashamed to say so. Of course, if I know somebody is needing help of if someone in Fanpop asks for me to pray for a particular person, I will, but most of the time I ask God to help me with some matters.

Why are you ashamed? If they're praying about themselves (I assume so, I haven't heard that song in ages), well, God expects us to. Of course it's better to pray for others but as long as you aren't being selfish or cruel there's nothing around with asking God to take care of your problems.

^Well, I guess you're right, but I would like to be more like Esmeralda. But then again, I never ask God to hurt anybody, so I guess it's okay.

It's human nature to want to think well of ourselves so we all very caught up in our own problems already. I'm not saying people never help each other out, but truthfully, one can only help so much. I donate here and there and I try to get people out of trouble and all but I mostly care about myself.

I was born Christian and was raised in a very praticant family but I am not religious. I consider myself agnostic, like Esmeralda probably is.

I can't relate to her prayers, but hers had a better impression on me than those of the other churchgoers.

Esmeralda's is the voice of those people you see on street corners begging for any extra dollars you might have. If your heart is in the right place you give them some money. That's where I usually give my extra dollars.

Yes. The churchgoers echo the normal self absorption of the human race. I try to peel away from that, because focusing on my needs all the time desensitizes me to the pain of others. God cares about me, true, but he would really like it more if I helped out. I want to see what Esmeralda sees.

Churchgoers:
"I ask for wealth
I ask for fame
I ask for glory to shine on my name
I ask for love I can possess
I ask for God and His angels to bless me"

We pretty much know what Esmeralda's point is, anyways. I don't care much of possessions, really. I'm sorry if that sounds stupid, or snobby or anything, I'm just expressing my opinion here. Sure a laptop, a sink, glasses, and money is important. But there are people in worse conditions. I think I'm blessed enough to even be having the knowledge to READ. I can live without glory shining in my name, I'll be fine if the people who may look at my grave will never know what kind of a person I was. I'll be fine if I don't have my own documentary, or my own condo. I don't need these things, because I'm blessed enough for a family, for *some* money, for my friends to know who I am. But there are people out there who aren't. So... I don't really pray for the things I want :/ Tbh, I'm so impatient that I'd rather just not even pray for fame, and wealth, even though I want it. (A lot xD) But, praying for me isn't just a 'I wish', because if *I* HAVE the ability to become famous, or rich, then I don't need to pray for it. I'll open up a restaurant of mine someday like Tiana, but do I have the power, and money to save people from poverty? Unfortunately, I don't. But I try my best, and I give what I have, but I only pray for those who need prayers. I don't pray for myself, but it's perfectly understandable for those who DO.

I pray a lot for myself, but I also pray a lot for others. But unfortunately I think I'm a little selfish with my prayers more often than not

I think, honestly, both. But the churchgoers is more imminent, because in my opinion (yes, I'm religious) you can't pray for something and not do anything to prompt it forward. And how are you going to help innocents without money? And yes, I know I'm selfish.
