She convinced Shang that girls can do just as much as boys can and she wouldn't be afraid to sacrifice her life for the one she loved. She'd probably be very mature about the relationship like Pocahontas also, and she did fall in love with someone she wasn't suppose to, so yeah.

Something done really well in both movies is the conflict and how the protagonist handles it. I think Mulan would do it best. For some reason this really made me want a Romeo and Juliet Disney movie idk why...

Merida shows some good negotiation skills towards the end of the movie.

I really can't see Mulan being able to negotiate well, we never see her do that.

None of them are brave enough. But I think Merida would be a bit successful on handling it because she speaks to the clans just like Pocahontas does to her people.

Apart from the Evil Queen, she's pretty good at getting people to like her. I imagine one singing/story session like when she sings to the dwarves "Someday My Prince Will Come" would get them all happily on board with the union.
