Doesn't matter much to me either way. I adore Nakoma and Charlotte, so I would love to see more sidekicks like them.

Nearly all the sidekicks in Disney movies are male! And for many of them, their gender doesn't matter, but for some reason most are still male.

Having more than one female character seems to bring out the worst in fans and critics alike (cough Tiana and Charlotte, Anna and Elsa)so I'm a bit wary, though I'd like it myself.

I don't think we've had one since Sleeping Beauty. They've all been male, male, male across the board. It's like the filmmakers feel they need to balance out the one female character with an all-male cast.

We've had the three fairies, Mrs. Potts, Nakomi, and Charlotte. Those are the ones I can think of.

I think if they're well written enough then yes. I'd rather have a well-written male then an under-developed female. It really only depends on how they're created, not race, sex, or religion.

This is much bigger issue than some supposed flaws DPs.
