I almost hate to though. It feels like I say more negative than positive, even though that's just how I feel. I'll keep it short.

Even though snobbishness can be OK as a character flaw, it annoys me in Belle because the movie never treats it like a flaw, nor her stubbornness, which isn't even a bad thing. she's only rightfully stubborn. and she's always right about everything, which is annoying. I don't mind idealized characters but for someone who is supposedly so weird and flawed, the movie never shows her that way. And I think she's a bit self-absorbed in the beginning.

^I don't agree with that, tbh. There's always gonna be something that isn't right, and I do think it's important to comment on it. "Shut up and enjoy" is a strategy that i've never liked.

I'm more indifferent to her. She's one of my middle princesses.

On one had I do like 'shut up and enjoy' but on the other I think analyzing a character (including the flaws) is a good thing. Basically I don't think anyone here is wrong. Sometimes I enjoy just...well...enjoying the characters. Other times I have fun picking them apart in a manner of speaking. For some nitpicking is 'just enjoying' the character. And I think both methods are great and fair so long as the person isn't rude about it.

She's a very bland and generic character to me. She's too much of a role model from my perspective.

Belle has always been at the bottom of my list. She just doesn't accomplish much of anything in her movie, aside from saving her dad a single time, some snarky line delivery (at everyone), and looking pretty in a dress. You need more than that to be a heroine to me.

She's condescending and tends to put her wants/what she thinks is right over other people's wishes and feelings (e.g., going into the west wing after the beast explicitly told her that he didn't want her in there)

Wow, it's weird seeing SU say that now that her motto has become exactly "shut up and enjoy my faves". What happened there?
