I love Lindsay, she's a fantastic actress, has been clean for five years, has gotten her good looks back, and I want her to get her career back on track but I don't think she's right for Ariel. If she wants to be in the movie, maybe as Ariel's mother (Though my personal choice for that would be Amy Adams), one of Ariel's sisters, or as a new character but not Ariel. It's not because of her personal life but because she's just too old for the part of Ariel. Plus, while her singing voice is good (Not great by any means) and serviceable, she doesn't have the vocal talent required for Ariel who is supposed to have the most beautiful voice. Emma Watson's singing voice was good but not great but it still worked because Belle having an amazing singing voice wasn't essential to the story like it was with Ariel in The Little Mermaid. I want her to have a successful career once again and maybe there could be a role in this movie that could help but NOT Ariel. In her Mean Girls days it could work, though her singing would still need to be dubbed by a professional singer with the vocal talent that was required for Ariel, but now she's too old for the part.

I love Mean Girls and Freaky Friday but since then, she's gone down hill in acting in my opinion.

Agree with KataraLover. You explained it pretty good. Lindsay was beautiful before all the drugs. I'm glad she's sober and I would love to see her make a comeback. I'm not too sure if she looks the part of Ariel though.

I think she's too old to be Ariel.

I agree with KataraLover. Plus, I think they should go with more unknown actresses. Like for Belle. They could’ve found someone not really known to the world but with a few good movie roles to play her instead of going straight for Emma Watson.

I can't think of a good role for her in the film.
