I feel like, She would really understand Ariel's longing to be somewhere else, and connect especially I think to Ariel's appetite for collecting human paraphernalia, because it's akin to Belle's obsession with books. There would definitely be a link there. However, the terms on which Ariel left would probably really make Belle feel sour, and especially Ariel's poor relationship with her father, since Belle seems to value duty over personal wants. She would most likely feel that Ariel was acting childish with her immature crush on Eric for what she would perceive to be purely aesthetic reasons. I also think she wouldn't be fond of Eric, and perhaps dislike him more than Ariel. She would also find it to be an embarrassment that Ariel forgets to attend her family's concert. Belle is more concerned about her dignity than Ariel is (at least, it's more often on the forefront of her mind).

Of course he's nice, but I think Belle may find Eric a bit vapid, especially compared to her own husband. And she wouldn't have anything to admire him or connect with him about, really. But maybe I'm being harsh, idk

^plus, who knows, she might not like the idea that he fell in love with a girl who can't share her opinions or anything (I don't have an issue with ArielxEric, but maybe Belle would).

So yeah, I do think she'd really admire Ariel for having a dream and letting nothing stand in her way to get it, because Belle clearly wanted to do that but her personal sense of duty wouldn't let her. Ariel is super confident and has no issue with her status as the odd one like Belle does, so she would probably admire that. I think she might have a like/dislike feeling for Ariel. Things that would bother her about Anna and Merida would probably also bother her about Ariel too, the rashness, being so headstrong and unwilling to compromise like Belle usually does, and yeah, the family thing would definitely chafe Belle at least a little.

@disnerdtobe- also, i see you putting ariel and belle as bffs but that's not the question i asked. it's if belle had a princess list because she watched the movies, not if she were friends with the princesses in real life. i think those lists would be very different.
@audreyfreak- i agree with most everything you said except liking ariel because she doesn't put anything in the way of her dream, i think belle would not like that ariel doesn't put duty before her dreams, she would see her as wildly selfish, i think. i really think she would maybe like ariel (not love) until fighting with her dad and selling her voice

I don't see Ariel and Belle getting along much at all.

And *cough* knowing that Ariel's personality IS my personality, and seeing that I don't get along with Belle's fans--- I'm always either being harassed/or constantly arguing with them --- this choice is way too easy.

I think Belle would dislike Triton, she would dislike how violent, restrictive, fiery and bigoted he is, he would remind her of both pre-development Beast and villaigers so she wouldn't be judgemental of Ariel for not getting alone with him at all. I think she would pity Ariel as a poor victim of abusive father. There's just no way Belle would side with Triton.
