KataraLover picked Beauty and the Beast 2017:
I honestly think both of them are EQUALLY fantastic. Both have their strong points and their weak points, do certain things better than the other, and are far from perfect but are still masterpieces on their own. Unlike with other remakes where I find certain ones FAR superior to the original (Cinderella and The Jungle Book) or absolutely INFERIOR to the original (Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent), this is in a category I'd call equally as good (Just like with 101 Dalmatians, though, I might like the remake slightly more just because of Glenn Close as Cruella).

So why did I vote for the remake? Because I know the original is going to get more votes, so I thought I'd give the remake some love, even though I think these two movies are equally as good. I'd also like to add that I do think Emma Watson was PERFECT for the role of Belle and her singing was good, pleasant to hear, and serviceable. I mean, she's no Paige O'Hara, Susan Egan, or Anneliese van der Pol, but she's good. Besides, it's not like Belle was a character where her voice was an important part of her character/the story like with Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Thumbelina, or Christine from Phantom of the Opera.

The remake was good, but it didn't surpass the original, imo

The animated one is one of my favorite movies, the live action one had some boring parts

I liked the remake too, but I think I prefer the original. I really do need to watch the remake again though.

I hated the remake. It's sloppy and desperately trying to cover up the plotholes of the original, offering explanation for Belle's mother, why Belle didn't like the town coz they are not only backwards but hate her for encouraging little girls to read books, why Beast was forgotten by entire town, how Maurice was rescued by the enchantress in the forest. The enchanted objects were horrible! Lumiere and Cogsworth relationship was totally pathetic. And god the songs were boring, and just too many. By the end, I wanted the songs to just stop. The only good thing about the movie was animation and Gatson, who had more depth to character than just plain vanity about his good looks.

This one, because the remake tried to hard to be like the original one with the exception of Lefou and Maurice.

Agree with KataraLover.
Sure, the original is better at something. It's nostalgic and servants look more charming in their magical objects form than they do in remake, I like Chip's bigger role.
However, I love some changes they made in the sequel. Making the Beast intelligent and well-read and I also prefer LeFou and Maurice in the remake.
