So I'm a little confused, why is Dan going into Yale? I thought he wanted to get into Darthmouth?

In 2x05 Dan talks with Jenny and he says he found out that Dartmouth English Department was POACHED by Yale.

He did want to go to Dartmouth, but he figured as long as Yale was a possibility, he should try for it...especially since their English program was amazing.
