Chapter 14: A Star-Crossed Love Transformation?!
“What a beautiful day today!” Laina said, sounding hyped up and estatically happy as she flew beside Akane. “It’s a great day for a picnic.” Asuka smiled. “Yeah.” “Hey Akane!” Akane heard Rumi’s voice close by and she spun around, seeing her fall into step beside her. “What’s up? Did you miss me?” Akane smiled. “Sort of. What’s wrong?” “Nothing,” Rumi shrugged. “I heard from Shiz that there had been a little accident at school with Seiji and Kaito. Did you see?” Akane shook her head. “Not really.” Akane’s face kind of dropped when she thought back about what happened earlier. ‘I’d better keep that promise to him.’ She thought, exhaling a sigh. At the corner of Akane’s eye, she saw Rumi blink at her, surprised. But before she could say something, Akane was saved by Ichiro who ran their way. “Hey guys!” He gave a lopsided smile. “Sorry that I haven’t been around as much Akane – I’ve finally done it!” He grinned as he brushed his fringe out of his eyes. “Did ... what?” Akane was confused for a moment, until she gasped, regarding Ichiro with sparkly, yellow eyes. “You’re kiddding, right?!” She squealed. He shook his head and grinned widely.
“I’ve finally asked Shizuko!” “Asked her what?” Rumi asked, staring at Ichiro and Akane. “Oh, well,” Akane grinned at Rumi. “While you were in Australia, Ichiro told me that he was in love with Shizuko and–” “No friggin’ way!” Rumi interrupted, her red eyes shone with brilliancy and joy. “You’re dating my girlfriend?” She grinned. Ichiro flustered and nodded. “Congratulations, Ichiro.” Akane smiled, patting him on the shoulder. “Thanks Akane,” He smiled but then his smile disappeared slowly to a hesitant, nervous smile when his eyes saw something or someone behind Akane.
Akane twisted around and to her shock and horror, she saw Seiji, staring at her through deep, dark purple pupils. “Hi,” He had a deep, husky voice as he spoke and Akane was struck by that. ‘He didn’t have that voice when I saw him last time.’ Akane thought, narrowing her eyes suspiciously at him. “What are you doing here, Seiji?” Rumi asked bitterly as Ichiro shifted slowly to stand behind Rumi. “Just to stop by.” Seiji shrugged and smiled slightly. For some reason, Akane blushed bright crimson in the face but she didn’t know why. “Akane,” Asuka whispered, popping her head out from behind Akane. “I sense a troll around Seiji.” Akane blinked. “Yeah,” Laina agreed, looking at Seiji with intense grey eyes. Akane stared at Seiji before she saw two dark azure eyes pop out from behing him staring at her for a moment before going back. ‘What was that?’ Akane blinked, puzzled. “Hey Akane,” She heard Rumi place a hand on her shoulder. “We’ll go on ahead ‘cause it seems like Seiji wants to talk to you.”
‘Huh?’ Akane looked up at Seiji. She saw nothing but dark secrets luring behind his eyes. But before she could tell Rumi that there wasn’t much for Seiji to tell, she was already gone. “Sheesh, Rumi and Ichiro ...” Akane sighed, rubbing her temples with a thumb and forefinger. “Can we talk Akane?” Akane shot a glare at Seiji when he asked that question. “No thanks, Seiji. I’m not allowed to talk to you nor come close to you as I made that promise to a friend.” It took Seiji a moment before he chuckled under his breath. “Oh, don’t tell me ... it was that overprotective guy, Saseke Kaito.” Akane huffed and averted her eyes from Seiji to the concrete. “That’s none of your business, Seiji.” Seiji smiled. “I can see that you have two pixies.” Asuka and Laina slowly loomed from behind Akane, still staring at Seiji.
“Where’s yours?” Akane asked, arching her eyebrows. Seiji shrugged. “Aruto?” He asked and a troll with lightning-white hair, blue eyes and pale skin, appeared from Seiji. He was wearing a black T-shirt, white jeans and sandals which looked similar to what Seiji was wearing–white long-sleeved shirt with black leather jeans and white sneakers. “I’m Aruto.” He snickered at Laina who had her lips formed in a firm, angry line. “I’m the troll of wisdom and Seiji’s future-bonded troll.” “Future-bonded?!” Akane cried, gawking at Seiji. “You’re not serious, are you?” Akane asked. She couldn’t picture Seiji being all wisdom-like. It was all too strange to beieve. Seiji raised an eyebrow and Akane took it as a yes. “How could you become all wisdom-like and all, when you grow up? It’s hard to imagine you being it.” “That’s because you haven’t seen the real Seiji.” Aruto explained and Akane froze.
“Aruto!” Seiji hissed sharply at him, making him flinch. ‘The real ... Seiji?’ Akane thought, looking at Seiji who was glaring up at the sky with a mix of annoyance and awkwardness. But Akane smiled at Seiji. “I hope to get to know the real you Seiji.” Akane told him before she quickly looked around in case anyone heard. “Keep it a secret from Kaito, please.” She whispered slowly. Seiji blinked at her, bewildered and stuttered. But Akane didn’t have the time to let Seiji start talking so she just waved at him and Aruto and sprinted hastily to the school building with Asuka and Laina flying ahead of her. Seiji watched her go just before he got interrupted by Aruto. “You’ve fallen for the wrong girl, Seiji.” “F-Fallen? No way,” Seiji gritted his teeth. “Besides ... she’s already in love with Kaito anyway. I bet they’re already dating.” “That’s right, Seiji.” Seiji heard the one voice that he didn’t want to hear right now.
Seiji didn’t turn around as he heard footsteps coming towards him. They stopped right next to him and Aruto whispered that it was Kaito, as Seiji suspected it would. “Akane and I are dating Seiji.” Kaito said, a smile came to his voice. “That’s one of the few reasons why I didn’t want Akane near someone like you.” Seiji laughed softly. “You don’t even know me anymore Kaito. She’s going to find out about the real me soon enough.” “The real you is already there in your eyes.” Seiji sighed and walked off to the school with Aruto hiding in his bag, without another word with Kaito.
“Akane, wait up!” Akane turned to see Emi fumbling with shoving her books and folders into her bag and speed-walking to where Akane stood, waiting for her. “Need some help?” asked, smiling at her. “No, it’s okay, Akane,” she zipped up her bag before putting her arms through the straps and linking her arm with Akane’s. “Let’s go. Rumi told me that Ichiro told her that we’re needed in the cafeteria immediately when the bell rings ‘cause he has something to say to us.” “Really?” Akane grinned. Emi nodded and grinned back, making Akane think that she and her were having the same thoughts. As soon as Emi and Akane reached the cafeteria, Rumi greeted them by grabbing them both by their free arms.
“Hey guys!” She hugged them as she smiled. “Come with me and forget the food. We’ll get it later,” “But I’m–” Emi was about to protest when Rumi stopped her with a wave of a hand. “Emi. Later.” She said in a firm, slightly annoyed voice as she arched an eyebrow. Emi had no choice but to agree since the suspense about Ichiro wanted to say something important to them was killing her like crazy. “Hey, you made it!” Shizuko squealed as Akane took her seat beside her and Emi sitting between her and Ichiro. Shizuko leaned into Akane and whispered, “Where’re Asuka and Laina?” Akane slightly pointed in her bag and when Shizuko looked to see, there were two pixies in her bag, sleeping.
“They’re asleep.” Shizuko told Akane and she smiled. “Rough night?” Akane nodded. “So what’s the big news Ichiro?” Akane asked as she turned to see him sitting across from her. “Well ... I’m sure that you’re happy to see me asking Shizuko out to the end-of-year prom that’s happening this year, but unfortunetly, I’ve, well, got a theory about Kaito and Seiji, though it may come to a shock to you, Akane.” Ichiro sounded a little anxious and edgy with nerves as he made eye contact with Akane. Apparently, Akane was half-surprised, half-timorous to hear what he had to say next. “I’ve heard around the school that Seiji only transferred to Hishima Star High School for one reason. That reason is to take revenge on Kaito.”
Ichiro’s words traumatized Akane stiff to her bones. The color escaped her face as she tried to process what Ichiro just said earlir. “You’re ... kidding, right Ichiro?” Akane’s voice was quiet but you could hear the infuriation building up in her voice if you were close to her. Her hands trembled into rigid fists as she stood up. “Akane–” Shizuko began but she was cut off by Akane who was mumbling to herself, “Damn you, Seiji. Your so-called wise troll is your future self ... why did you lie in my face?” “Y-yes, Akane.” Ichiro was saying just as Akane stormed out of the cafeteria and through the doors that led outside.
She was just looking around the grounds when Asuka flew up next to her. “What ... what’s wrong, Akane? What happened?” She was rubbing her eyes as she spoke but when she looked to Akane, she began to feel a little uneasy as a dark power washed over her from Akane. “Akane ... tell me what happened.” Asuka bit her bottom lip. But it seemed that Asuka was being ignored because when she spotted a certain someone that she wanted to see sitting on the bench that was close to the forest around the school borders, she raced to see him. When she was near, she took fistfuls of the collar of his school shirt and shook him uncontrollably. “Seiji, you idiot! Aruto was lying about him being your would-be self and you just went along with him, didn’t you?!” Akane was shooting fire at Seiji who was utterly motionless by the bench with a horror-struck expression on his face.
“What the hell?” He cried. “Don’t judge Aruto about his powers because he’s my would-be self, Hitoru Akane! What the hell are you talking about?” He stood up as soon as Akane released him. “I heard about why you were transferred here. You came to take revenge on Kaito, weren’t you? Just not now,” She clenched her teeth. Akane saw that Seiji had sweat in his forehead and she guessed that she was right. “Stupid! Kaito was right – you are a crazy bastard!” “He doesn’t know me, Akane!” Seiji shouted with annoyance. Akane growled irritably, just as a strange light formed in front of Akane and Seiji’s eyes. Akane was entranced by it almost instantly before something half-embarrassing, half-amazing thing happened.
Akane blinked when she stared down at herself after the luminous light disappeared after several seconds. Instead of her uniform, she had a sleeveless white mini-dress, long-sleeved black gloves on her arms with half-armed, cut-off light purple sleeves and she had black knee-length stockings along with white strap heels that Asuka always wore. “What ... what the hell is this?!” Akane cried, her face flaring like crazy as she whipped her head around to look for Asuka. After a few panicky moments, she noticed that Seiji was staring at her, wide-eyed and completely motionless where he stood.
“Holy shit,” Seiji breathed, his eyes glistened in the sunlight. “You’ve got transformation.” “Huh? What’s that?” Akane blinked, confused and still wondering where Asuka was. “It is!” Asuka’s voice came into her mind, making Akane yelp in fright. “Asuka?” Akane whispered. “I cannot believe that you transformed with me, Akane! My transformation is Star-Crossed Love. It feels amazing to be transforming with you!” Asuka squealed, excited and happy. Suddenly, Akane heard something beating, like a heart racing in someone’s chest and she wondered how on earth she could hear it.
Akane squinted at Seiji who was now smirking at her before she reached her hands up on her head. Her hands touched two ... cat-like ears?! “Ohmigod!” Akane screamed, sinking down to the ground, landing on her knees as she stared down at the ground. “Akane!” She heard Laina’s panicked voice next to her. Akane blinked her eyes up to her, too astounded to speak. “What – I don’t know – I–” In front of her, she heard Seiji laughing along with Aruto, making Akane glare at him with firey-looking eyes. “What’s so funny?!” She snapped, her tone was frustratedly angry. “I don’t see anything funny about this!” She sprang up in a blink of an eye as she said this and suddenly, she was inches from Seiji’s appalled face.
“Um.” Akane gulped, pulling herself a good distance away from him. She was blushing furiously as Asuka’s transformation disappeared in sparkles and she appeared appeared next to Akane. She had a slightly worried expression on her face as she was feeling a slight aura coming from her to Seiji. Seiji smiled at Akane’s flustered expression. “Sorry,” He apologized. “Akane, are you okay?” Laina asked, worried. Akane gave a weak smile and nodded at her before she looked over at Seji. “Don’t tell Kaito, ‘kay?” Akane gulped. “He’s going to get worried about me being with you.” Akane bit her lip, just as the class bell rang.
“Well, don’t let it bother. Sooner or later, you’re going to have to get away from him to have more freedom.” Seiji gave a lopsided smile, his eyes looked ecstatic as he said this, but Akane tried to take no notice. “Still.” Akane sighed, looking up at the sky. “I don’t know ...” “Think about it.” Seiji shrugged. “It’s for the better.” “Easy for you to say!” Akane flung her arms in air and gave out a sigh of annoyance. “I have to go Seiji, to class. You’d better come along too otherwise you’ll get lectured by the teacher.”
Seiji rolled her eyes and just when Akane turned to walk, he went to walk with her by her side. Though this was all happening, Asuka was still unsure and worried about the unexpected sensation that she felt earlier with her powers.
But she just inahled a deep breath and shook her head as she flew a few spaces away from Akane and Laina. ‘It’s just a feeling.’ She thought, nodding, forcing her words to convince herself.
‘Asuka will get over it and Kaito will be the only one she’ll love. Not ... Seiji.’
