That was the plan. Naruto really loves Sakura, but he thought Sakura was lying. He thinks Sakura doens't love him since she loves Sasuke. But I think Sakura wasn't lying. And I'm sure Sakura has a crush on both Naruto and Sasuke. It's obvious Sakura loves Naruto. That's why she risks her life, by going after Sasuke herself, just to keep Naruto safe.
