No one is born evil that's true, but when you become an adult you have the choice if you want to become evil or not. Your outlook is percieved by the life you live and your interactions around others when your young, but still you always have a choice. Unless you are psychologically insane without forethought then that's different, but Scars plans were premeditated so I say yes, he did choose to be evil.

As a kid, i feel so sorry about him. But, then he killed his bro. And now, i dont know what to say! And i say he turned evil because
1. his dad was so bad to him.
2. Mufasa got all the credit.

Well through out his cub-hood,i felt bad for him.

1. His dad did not give him much love as Mufasa got

2. He felt like he was left out

3. He got a scar from his own father


I did hate Scar when he killed Mufasa though. If his father chose him to be king, he would have been good and Mufasa would be the one left out. I love Mufasa though, he is my 2nd Favorite Character from Lion King :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! accurate, no one is born wanting to be bad, I also think that the culprit was Ahadi, but Scar had the option to kill Mufasa or not. And he decided to kill him.

Jealousy killed taka and made him Scar the lion he turned into and honestly the fact that an "unknown" lion scarred him on the outside did not help heal the inside :) he could have been a normal/ good looking lion.

In the end,I think he did want to be evil,but I think it was because he let the bad things that happened to him in the past,his jealousy and resentment of Mufasa,and his own negativity consume him and drive him over the edge.Like all the Disney villains he is an example of what happens when you let negative emotions consume you,and when someone just isn't capable of overcoming them.Not defending evil actions,but some don't deal with bad experiences very well and eventually just seem to decide,"the hell with the world,life screwed me so I'm just going to be evil!"I know these are just animated characters,but they represent actions and emotions of we in the real world.

I don't think he wanted to as a cub, but after years of mistreatment and being known as Taka, well he just gave in and went evil, he did choose so I guess the correct answer is he didn't plan on it until the pain overtook him and he could bear it no longer.

Well, in the begining as a cub I didn't want to. But as life went on...*smirks* things changed. hahahaha!

I don't think he wanted to be evil, he just wanted to be king and it was the only way to be king is by killing Mufasa and exile Simba. He was a jealous lion who wanted to rule pride rock.

There's way to much fan fiction out there trying to show scar as a somewhat good guy or something but according to the movie he killed his brother and was going to kill his nephew I don't know about anybody else but that's evil!!!

Poor Taka. he didn't want to be evil.

My theory of why Scar is evil is because 1.) Mufasa was the future king instead of him. 2.) He got his scar from a cobra. 3.) He destroyed his Lion Guard.
