Dr. Bambi allowed Shadow to come along with me in the birthing room. He was worried sick, his crimson eyes clearly stating that he was about to cry. The others were forced to wait outside because Tails was too young to enter and see birth before his little fox eyes. Shadow sat next to me, running his hands through my long hair, put up in a shaggy ponytail by a friendly nurse. I was panting and sweat was streaming down my forehead. Quietly, Dr. Bambi kept ushered the paramedics into my room, afraid of disturbing me. They wore white hats with a Red Cross on each one of them and a yellow apron that said in small print, "We Are The Helpers. You Are The Helped." I felt a bit less pressured now, but still pain struck my uterus. "GAHHAH!" I screamed and wailed in pain as a little head emerged from my flower. Shadow blinked a lot and immediately yelled, "Doctor! I see a head!" Dr. Bambi was rushing around like a Roadrunner, filling out papers and dropping vaccines. A new nurse came forward and shyly said, "Ma'am, I need you to push hard." I blushed and felt tears streaming down my face as Shadow gripped my hand. He whispered quietly in my ear that I would make these babies come, with him. I felt touched and squeezed hard with all my might. Damn it. No fucking luck. The babies were still stuck. The new nurse was a very petite hedgehog named Daniela. She was very positive and encouraging, and even helped Shadow squeeze my hand to help me push. Then, Dr. Bambi saw four heads. "Here comes the others!"
The next thing I heard was cries, wailing, cheers, and screams. The medical team was clapping loudly and cheering like a horde of rampant elephants. I was still panting furiously and Shadow had his eyes closed tightly. Dr. Bambi shook him gently a couple of times to let him know that the babies were alright. He opened his eyes to see a group of four hedge-cats covered in blood and secretion. The newborns were crying too, and the doctors and nurses cleaned them up. By looking at their Gentiles, the doctors separated them into a boy's group and a girl's group. A warm, soft, fuzzy, pink blanket was wrapped around the girls and the same blanket in a dark blue for boys. Shadow felt like crying, but he wanted to remain strong in front of the doctors so they wouldn't think he was a wuss. Dr. Bambi handed the children to me first, and they immediately fell asleep in my arms. I smiled down at them, my hair covering one of my rainbow eyes. Shadow tried to look over my shoulder, and I sensed it. Tiredly, I handed him the babies and said, "Do you want to see your kids? They are really special." Shadow nodded and picked up his kin. They stared at him wide-eyed, and laughed hysterically. Their laughs brightened up the whole room like a candle. I even caught some nurses and doctors grinning. "I guess you love your daddy......my little angels...." whispered Shadow softly. He rocked them gently and they fell asleep again. The others barged in and gaped at the babies. They took turns holding them and stroking their faces. All of a sudden, Dr. Laloloza rushed into the room! He said, "Ms. Zoe! I have very good news! You have survived the NIDS disease! You're cured! This is just.....eureka!"
Shadow let out a cheer. Everyone did. I got all sorts of congratulation cheers and talks. Photos were taken. My eyes were blurry and urgently needed rest. Shadow and I were surprised that the babies didn't wake up from the huge commotion. Rouge complained that I needed to rest and get some shut eye, and Shadow asked the doctor and the superintendent if he could stay the night. Of course they agreed, him being the father and all. Then Amy piped up like a canary in May, "Wait! You guys didn't name them yet!" Immediately all my friends started swarming me and Shadow with names. Shadow looked at the first one, a beautiful cat with black streaks that ran through her ponytail. She had red pudgy paws bad blood red eyes like her dad, and a brown cat tail with golden streaks. "I like the name Trinity. Trinity the Hedge-cat." I said. Shadow nodded in agreement and placed the beautiful baby next to me. The nurse picked up the next one, another girl, and asked us to name her. She had hedgehog quills running from her small head to her spine, each coated with black and purple. Her eyes were rainbow like mine, and she had gold paws, with a small star on each. Her tail was long and red, tipped with brown. "I want to name her Ann-Marie. Not Maria, just changing the letters. She looks like one. Ann-Marie the Hedge-cat." I smiled and giggled. Such a cute name for a cute girl. Next runner-up was the boys.
Dr. Laloloza and Dr. Bambi filled out the birth certificates while me and Shadow got stumped on what to name our first boy. He was a dark purple color, with one red eye and one rainbow eye. He had Shadow's body structure and small hands. His chest fur was like Shadow's except it was a dark shade of black. His cat tail had purple streaks with a gold tip. His paws were red and his feet were black. He always smiled a lot, such a happy hedge-cat. Shadow closed his eyes and rubbed his chin with his index finger. I kept quiet for a bit too. Then a lightbulb came into my brain. "How about Dusk? Dusk the Hedge-cat!" I said excitedly. Shadow kissed my cheek and our son's. "Perfect. I love it." We handed little Dusk to the nurse and she scribbled down all of his details. The last baby was smaller than his siblings. He mostly looked like Shadow, and his tail was mine. He was surprisingly a grey and white color (no it's not Silver) and his quills were like Shadow's except white and purple. He had a golden tail with a black tip and his chest fur was dark purple. His eyes were red like Shadow, and his muzzle was oddly white. He giggled a lot and love to suck on his thumbs. Shadow and I already planned to get an orthodontist for him. It was hard coming up for a name for him, until Shadow suggested, "How about Platinum? His skin color sure does match it!" My friends agreed and I nodded. Dr. Bambi scribbled down his info and left us in peace. Tails, Rouge, Amy, Sally, and Sonic left too, fearing they "overstayed their welcome." That just left me and Shadow alone in the room.
We were quiet for a while, too absorbed with our little miracles. Shadow finally spoke up softly, "I'm glad you made it. I couldn't live anymore without you. You're my everything, Zoe."
I blushed, "Thank you Shadow. Are you happy about being a father? You're not worried, scared, or are you going to flip out in two seconds?"
"Of course I'm happy. I'm not worried about my little angels....hah....they all have one thing in common though. Something I love that they get from someone."
"Who and what?"
"From you. Courage and happiness."
My body melted at the last part. Shadow didn't love me for only looks, lust, or anything like that. He loved me for my will, who I was, and my looks. I blushed brightly like the Sun. It showed and Shadow spotted it. He smiled and kissed me passionately on my lips. "I love you Zoe. Ever since I first met you."
I gave him a kiss back and hugged him with my remaining strength. "I love you too, Shadow the Hedgehog."
Then me, Shadow, Trinity, Dusk, Ann-Marie, and Platinum fell asleep. Just like that. All of these events felt just like falling out of the sky.....
(Alright everyone! That's the end of my sequel! There will be a new set coming out soon, called the Misfortunate Scions! This will be based on Shadow and my kids' adventures and fumbles! It will take a while to complete! Will someone interfere with Shadow and my relationship? Will the kids make it through school? Will I fall for someone I like as a friend? Will the NIDS disease come back? Will I get pregnant again? Will Shadow continue to dwell on his past and do the unthinkable? Will I stop doing this? Tune in next time for the new series! "well... come on! We're going to be late!!" dan yelled. Shadow, which was walking with his eyes closed said " I sense something , something familiar from my past." Just what past was he talking about ? Well, my past starts with the death of my parents . Just thinking about it makes me want to cry ,but Shinobi must never show tears ,not even one. maybe Shadow had the same past like me."Shadow," I said softly."what?" Shadow answered." have you ever had a broken past?" Suddenly,I bit my lip because I was scared what Shadow might say to my naive question. Then,I noticed that Shadow was exposing small tears and whispered. " I have lost my best friend Maria. After 50 years, I've been alone." Shadow said "I know how you feel, my parents died from a suicide mission, and since then I've never'd speak of them until now." I said to Shadow. In my head I thought that Shadow wasn't the only one alone, I was alone, too. Finally, we both have something in common. ( to be continued in part 4)
