Why can sonic fans and Mario fans never get along?

Really, why cant they? Mario and sonic are getting along fine, but most fans are another story...

Well it makes sence, the yin and yang thing. Mario=red. Sonic=blue. Mario=high jump, low(er) speed. Sonic=high speed, low(er) jump. Quite simple logic
