The Vampire Diaries Question

I just wonder something...

I know Stefan tells Damon why he screwed up the plan with Klaus - it was to save Damon. But he leaves out the fact that it was Katherine that got Stefan to save Damon or that she told him she loved Damon. Why he hides it from Damon?

I think it is once again to protect Damon. Don't get me wrong, I love Katherine's character but she was horrible to do what she did to Damon. She may have loved Damon but it is obvious that she is always going to choose Stefan. Whenever Katherine gets involved with Damon something bad usually happens to hurt him and he ends up doing something out of anger/pain that harms others accidently.

Point is that even though Katherine loved Damon, she even admitted she loved Stefan more and perhaps Stefan didn't want to cause another rift/more drama between them.
