“What do you mean I can't go?!”
“I mean you will not go.”
“But mom that's not-”
“It's final Mel.”
The young teen screamed in frustration.
“Why not?”
“Because I don't think you should. You're a young girl.”
“Ugh! You're ruining my life!”
Mel flew off angrily. Devin waited till she heard the door slam before rubbing the headache that was coming on. Her daughter was a handful but Devin was okay with it. She walked into the kitchen, grabbing a few herbs and warming some water. She closed her eyes and crushed a few herbs, chanting some weird language. She waited for just a minute before she heard another frustrated scream. Mel came storming out as Devin finished putting the tea leaves in the now boiling water.
“You enchanted my wings again?!”
“Yes. I told you. You're not going out with Ciel. Trouble will be had and I refuse to let you go.”
“Dad would let me go!”
Devin looked over to Mel. She knew she was right. Fang would have let her go. But because Mel would had tried to sneak away without telling them where she was going.
“Well Dad's not here. You had the option to go with him and Lexi and Jamie. You opted to stay here. So you listen to me.”
“But you're being unfair!”
“I am not.”
“Why are you so stubborn?!”
Devin watched Mel glare at her.
“Take a seat Mel.”
The young girl stood until she got tired of being stared at. She sat down grudgingly, refusing to look at her mom. Devin watched her for a few minutes.
“Why are you so against everything I do?” Mel whispered.
“You're a teenager. It's my job.”
Mel scoffed.
“Mel, you like to think about yourself.”
“What?! So now I'm selfish!”
“Have you ever thought the reason I won't let you do things is so we can be together?”
Mel slowly shook her head, looking at her mom. Devin was looking into her now empty cup. Mel knew Devin enough to know that Devin wore her heart on her sleeve. She must have been trying to not get emotional.
“You and Fang are so close. You and Jamie are so close. Lexi is my little girl, but you guys are my children too.”
“Mom I.....I didn't realize-”
“I know. And it's okay. But Mel, you need to know that everything I do to you or say to you is because of how much I love you. Do you understand?”
Mel nodded and moved around to hug her mom.
“I love you too mommy.”

Scene 2:
"You are a good man." Barbara said once more, firmly.
"Thanks, Babs." Sam said softly, looking into the red-head's blue eyes. Barbara returned the gaze. Sam leaned forward and brushed a strand of hair put of her face. "You are one of the best people I have eve met in my life." Sam said softly. "I'm glad we're friends Barbara."
The red-haired girl smiled and leaned forward, pressing her lips slightly to Sam's. Sam reached one hand into her fiery hair and pulled her closer, deepening the kiss before breaking off and standing up. "We tried this before. It didn't work out."
"Yeah..." Barbara said, looking to the side. "Sorry."
"Me too." Sam said, slipping on his mask and jumping from the window.
Barbara took a deep breath and about a full sixty seconds before returning to her computer.

Hair:
Where i was originally born, i was royalty. Chosen immediately because my hair was white. In my tribe white hair was a rarity. And that child would become the queen or king at the earliest time possible. I became queen at the age of eight. I was wiser than i sounded. I was terrifying, yet generous. I helped and protected when ever necessary. But When my indecent occurred, and i was banished i left. And i was replaced by a new queen. A seven year old girl with short white hair. At that time i had long white hair.
It was to grow out for however long i was ruling. Now i had to cut. It was custom. Now i cut and left my hair grow out at what ever pace i choose. But as i look at my hair and see it flow, the pain flows too. The past i had. I loved it so. But it was part of my cursed color of hair that i became who i am. but then without it now...who would i be? Would i be here? Would i have the friends i do now?
