It was called Team Machine, what’s your emergency?
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:

This is a blog devoted to Person of Interest. I enjoy meta, speculations, spoilers and everything interesting. All spoilers are tagged for one day after the new episode airs, with "poi spoilers". There\'s no hate, fandom/shipping wars of any kind here.

I don\'t allow for my edits to be posted anywhere else. You are not allowed to share them on another Tumblr blog, weheartit, soup.io or any other social platform. You can post them to Facebook and Twitter ONLY IF you give a direct link back to my original post.
IMPORTANT! Click this to learn about the 30/10 update and my new gifs policy.
On 30th of October 2014, Tumblr\'s update made posts wider. This affected every single gifset ever made on this website because the dimensions required for gifs were changed. Very long story short, regardless of which dimensions we use now, gifs/graphics will still look bad. If you want to know why, read this post.
About 99% of gif makers on here - myself included, which is why you\'re reading this - decided to keep using old dimensions. There is a script that you can install (with Stylish) that will let you view the gifs with 245px dimensions. I edited my theme so they look okay on my blog, but keep in mind they\'ll look blurry on your dash and blog. If you\'d like to know more, there\'s also this masterpost.
If you have any questions, fire away. I\'m happy to complain about this absurd update :) Click on the background to exit.
Am I the only one who’s NOT okay with the fact that Harold just chose to save the Machine over John? He’s essentially told John will die if he doesn’t show up in 15 mins and he doesn’t go? Sure, he argues about it with Root but then she convinces him to just ignore it and continue saving the Machine? Um, no. No freaking way. I don’t care if the world’s about to end. Harold would still save John first.
Finch did the most morally sound thing within the structure of the narrative, which required Finch and Root to secure the compression algorithm, for which his presence was required.
Finch could have gone off to save John, which would have been ludicrous considering Finch is a crippled adorable genius, not a ninja capable of taking down any of Dominic’s henchmen. If anything he would have jeopardized not only himself, but the entire mission. He did the ethical thing required to complete the task and the dramatic plot.
Jim is in one scene with Chap while Michael is in the other with Amy so both story lines are engaging and have emotional relevance. If Michael is with Jim and Chappie, Amy is by herself with no one to talk to and no way to convince Caleb. Not to mention that viewers instinctively feel that a character who is on her own almost never dies because then there’s no one there to witness it and it’s a dramatically wasted death.
It’s a plot thing, not a question of how much Finch loves his friends. Sometimes writers have to tweak a character’s tendencies, even though they know it’s not entirely right, simply because the plot is paramount. That’s why characters always end up doing slightly uncharacteristic shit in finales. As long as it’s not completely fucked up, like in some shows, they did well. Don’ think it was that noticeable. I know stuff like that seems huge and unfair to shippers though. We’ve all been there.
I personally disagree. The writers have full control over everything. They write the plot how they want it. If writing in a certain situation causes the characters to react a way that doesn’t work for the plot then don’t write it that way. Finch is needed somewhere else for the plot to work. Fine. Finch needs to be paired with Root for plot or emotional relevance or whatever the heck the reason. Fine. Then DON’T write in a situation where the character has to act out of character in order to get where you want them. Simple as that.
Was going with Root to save the Machine the most morally sound thing to do? Absolutely. Would Finch choosing to save John over the entire world have been completely ludicrous? YES, absolutely, it sure would have been. But that’s not the point. The point is Finch still would have done it anyway, regardless of how stupid (at least the Finch I know would have). Doing anything else in that situation was way too out of character (IMO). And the writers could have just VERY EASILY either not included that situation or written it differently and still had the exact same plot they wanted with Finch and the Machine etc. 1) They could have just not had Dominic figure out how to contact Finch or 2, even more easily, they could have kept pretty much everything exactly the same and just written a few second scene of Finch meeting where requesting, seeing that John had escaped with the Machine’s help, and then had Reese & Finch continued on their merry way again with Root and saving the Machine exactly as it had played out. Wouldn’t have taken much at all to write him in character and still have the exact same plot. The plot is no excuse when you can write it exactly how you want it.
Also, the point about Finch not being able to take down any of Dominic’s henchmen. Yes, of course not. We know that and Finch knows that. However, Dominic didn’t want to lure Harold to kill him. He wanted him because he thought Harold was Elias’s key and he wanted to force him to do his bidding. He wanted to use him, along with Reese. Harold knew that. Reese knew that. As long as Harold did what he wanted he wouldn’t kill either of them. Harold wouldn’t be going there to fight himself and Reese to safety. Him following Dominic’s orders would be enough to save Reese until they escaped. Yes, obviously none of that would matter much if Samaritan is meanwhile destroying the Machine and the whole world, but Harold would have still gone anyway. At least the Harold I know would have. Otherwise in just FIFTEEN minutes John may have very well been dead. 15 mins is not a lot of time, even for the Machine to try and help. Finch would have at least wanted to go and delay it, make sure The Machine could get John out, and then go with John to save the Machine afterward, even if that would have decreased the time they had to save the Machine. He still would have risked it to save John. Can you imagine how he would have felt if he’d gone to save the Machine and then John had been killed because he didn’t meet Dominic? There’s no way he would have been able to live with himself after that. No way he would have risked that. How many times has John saved his life? Nope, I’ve tried to make excuses around it, but I can’t think of a single one.
And I’m not even a ‘Rinch’ shipper. I just love their friendship. Their absolutely pure, genuine and loyal friendship and dynamic that always used to be one of the central parts of the show.
Just my opinion. I know not everyone agrees, which is fine. To each their own. I wish I could be okay with it, but I’m not.
thatportuguesefool answered your post: I love PoI but I thought S4 finale was…
What about the Machine talking to Harold? That was the first time a TV show actually made me cry…
I rolled my eyes I’m afraid. I prefer human interaction. It’s why Harold/John or Harold/Root was always more interesting to me than Harold/the Machine or Root/the Machine.
I love PoI but I thought S4 finale was all over the place. It’s becoming too sci-fi for my liking but even putting that aside, I felt it lacked emotion. The scene I found most moving was Reese telling Finch he’s staying with him no matter what. But on the other hand, Harold going with Root instead of helping John was so out of character I almost screamed at my screen.
#person of interest #I could write mote about this episode but #a) I just got home and I'm sooo tired #b) I need to rethink things #c) I need to rewatch because I've been so busy I haven't rewatched a single episode from S4 #although if I'm being honest there wasn't one that I wanted to rewatch #maybe if then else but that's it

Dear Irrelevants, I just talked to my friend and it turned out that our thoughts on PoI’s latest episode are exactly the same. I’m curious whether we’re in majority or in minority. I’m going to tell you what I thought of the episode, but before I do, what did you think?

Yeah, I don’t know what’s up with that. It seems like every post I queued for my side blog had gone to this one. I deleted everything now, but I’m furious. I mean, my orientation is not a huge secret anymore, but for God’s sake, why can’t something just work on this website…
